Catholic Schools Committee Mission Statement

“St. Joseph’s Parish supports the family decision to enroll students in local Catholic schools”.

This committee was formed in December 2010. A parishioner had provided a very generous donation to support local Catholic education for children of parishioners. The challenge to the Parish was to leverage those dollars and develop a strategy to encourage faith-based education. The committee developed a procedure and application forms, with emphasis on student and family activity at the school and parish.

  • Applications are due in November, awards are made in January, and tuition support sent directly to the schools.

Students from Saratoga Central Catholic High School have spoken after Mass during Catholic School Week. We realize that current students are the very best examples of faith-based education and best recruiters of new students. Students attending Catholic schools from St. Joseph’s and St. Paul’s have increased from 3 to 6 to 12 over the past three years---a wonderful record indeed! Financial support has come from: some past parish raffles, a generous anonymous donor, in memory of Rosemary Smith, in memory of Anthony & Elsie Otrembiak, and envelope contributions from parishioners. Donations are maintained on a separate line on the Parish balance sheet. Thanks for your past support, and let’s keep this fine program going.
